Jackpot slot Mega Moolah changes hands: Microgaming sells gambling portfolio

Isle of Man-based game developer Microgaming has agreed to sell its Quickfire distribution business and games portfolio to Games Global Limited. The company announced this in a press release on Monday.

As part of the agreement, Games Global will acquire the international distribution rights for Microgaming games, including progressive jackpot games such as the legendary Mega Moolah slot.

In addition, the extensive customer base, which includes 260 gaming operators and more than 900 global game brands, will go to Games Global Limited.

Microgaming is one of the pioneers in the iGaming industry and has achieved a leading position in the market with popular titles such as Immortal Romance, Thunderstruck and Avalon.

One of the greatest successes is the progressive jackpot slot Mega Moolah. This is already available in the variants Mega Moolah Summertime, Mega Moolah 5 Reel Drive, Mega Moolah Goddess (formerly Mega Moolah Isis), Mega Moolah Atlantean Treasures, Mega Moolah Fortunium Gold and Mega Moolah Absolootly Mad. In June of this year, Microgaming launched Mega Moolah Immortal romance.

It doesn't matter which variant the players choose. All games are linked to the same jackpot. The reason for the popularity of Mega Moolah are the millions in profits. It was only in April of this year that the Mega Moolah Absolootly Mad set a new record with a payout of 19,430,723.60 euros to a player from Belgium .

New ways for Microgaming

Games Global, which was founded in early 2021, is currently awaiting certain regulatory approvals. Therefore, the completion of the sale is not expected until the second quarter of 2022.

Microgaming, on the other hand, will in future concentrate more on the sale of gaming platforms and on the further development and licensing of its sports betting technology.

Microgaming CEO John Coleman commented:

This is an exciting deal that has been in the pipeline for a while that will bring new growth and opportunities to both Microgaming and Games Global. We are announcing it now to give our partners and stakeholders sufficient time and clarity.

25 development studios and 3,000 games in one hand

In addition to the takeover of the Microgaming portfolio, Games Global also made further agreements to acquire developer studios. As can be seen on the company website, these include all41Studios, Gameburger Studios, Slingshot, Stormcraft Studios, Triple Edge Studios and Alchemy Gaming.

Who is behind Games Global?

Games Global focuses on the development and sale of iGaming products in international regulated markets. The business will be led by Chief Executive Walter Bugno, previously in senior positions at IGT and Lottomatica, and CFO Tim Mickley, previously at SafeCharge and Playtech.

Games Global's mission is to create a world-leading game content and distribution business that focuses on both established international regulated and regulated markets. According to media reports, the company is being financed by private investors.

According to the company, Games Global will be a leading provider with a portfolio of over 25 studios and a catalog with more than 3,000 games after all planned acquisitions are completed.

The group will employ over 1,100 experienced people in Europe, North and South America, Oceania and South Africa. And this is just the beginning, says the company website.
